“internal // external” is the 2nd album by Obarzanek’s experimental project, Body Clock. It came out on jpeg. Artefacts April, 2023 and was recorded in Obarzanek’s studio as well as partially at MESS studio in Meat Market.
The album is a selection of drones and ambient meanderings which symbolize the processes of chaotic, unordered energy and information, into something tangible and resonant. Like earth to plants, thoughts to actions, the unravelling and ordering of energy and information into something definitive and fixed, inevitably to deform and deteriorate back again into obscurity.
Words from the label - “all time is all time. it doesn’t change. but we do. our bodies decay, our memories twist and warp and warble. what might have been becomes infinite. we are blessed with tools to catalog our lives - 0s and 1s, polyvinyl chloride, magnetic tape, paper and ink. but all artefacts we leave behind decay. computers crash, records warp, tapes disintegrate, paper decomposes. same as a body or a brain.
it’s on this canvas that body clock paints. these tracks are portraits etched into tape, left to wither and tangle. when they unravel, waned and blurry, a faint shadow remains. a new memory, painted from the muck of the last. collapsing in on themselves, over and over, these pseudomemories morph into cataclysmic epiphany.. then unfold into calmness.
these songs are bugs trapped in amber. just like us”
